Matt & Polly Wogg in the Morning Minimize

Matt Herkimer

I'm the last of the original Frog squad having been here doing morning since 1988 (With the exception of the first year when I did the 3-7 shift). The reasons I've stayed so (too) long? I love the area, I love country music, I appreciate my beloved co-workers and no one else will hire me.

My favorite movies are "Casablanca", "Citizen Kane" and anything with the Marx Brothers. Musically I'm all over the board but I do harbor a soft spot for late 80's-early 90's country as in Rosanne Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Mavericks, Kathy Mattea, Rodney Crowell and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

In my spare time I like to golf, hit the antique stores ( I collect old magazines), work out at the gym, watch classic movies and eat ice cream. I also do a lot of bird-watching but it sounds like a geeky thing to do so I won't mention it.

My goals include staying at the Frog til they drag me out kicking and screaming, see my daughter marry well and live to see (and utilize) the first effective hair-regrowth treatment.

My radio career began in Watertown NY at Froggy 97. From there it was a trip across country from a Froggy station in Ohio and another in Kentucky. I tried being normal at a station in Arizona but I've always been a frog at heart. I was born a loooong time ago in Gananoque Ontario Canada. I've called the US my home since 1995.

In my spare time I love to play golf, when it's not snowing or Texas Hold Em poker. I'm a reality freak. I TIVO everything from Idol to Big Brother.

As far as country music goes, I'm a junkie. I love Keith Urban and Sugarland and enjoy anything with a great message.

NASHVILLE NEWS.....Congrats to Alan Jackson who was named ASCAP's songwriter/artist of the year, ending the 3 year run of Big & Rich.  Reba also named the ASCAP golden note award winner.

NEW CD's....Kenny Chesney's Lucky Old Sun Delux Edition is in stores today.  He says it's an inside look into his failed marriage to Renee Zellweger.  He wrote a lot of the songs after the breakup as therapy.  Pay close attention to the song Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be...He doesn't know if Renee has heard it or whether or not she'll like it.  Big Kenny fans might not like this album since it has a Caribbean feel like his Old Blue Chair CD.  There's only 1 up tempo cut on the entire album.

Also in stores today, John Michael Montgomery Time Flies, Billy Currington's Little Bit of Everything, Little Big Town's reissued A Place to Land and in honor of the 40th anniversary of the recording of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison album, the CD/DVD is in stores.

Congrats to Sharon Gagnon who was star struck this morning.  She won 4 tix to see Collin Ray at the Turning Stone show room next Monday Oct 20th.  Tune in tomorrow morning at 7:10 for another chance to win

DANCING RECAP...Brooke Burke at the top again with a score of 26.  Her samba was a bit too erotic for head judge Len Goodman but so raunchy Bruno needed a smoke.  Cloris Leachman took on the tango with leg lifts so high they were TIVO rewind worthy.  She scored a 22...big improvement from her string of 16s.  After almost being sent home last week, Rocco needed to step things up...but since he doesn't have a musical bone in his body he'll be the next to go.  It's on at 9 on ABC or tune in tomorrow morning if you miss it.

HOLLYWOOD NEWS....Supermodel Carol Alt will pose nude in the November issue of Playboy.  That's 48 YEAR OLD Carol Alt.  Lisa Marie Presley's twin girls are no longer nameless.  She called her daughters Finley and Harper.  Simon Cowell makes close to 22-thousand dollars a minute as a judge on American Idol.  He gets 36 mill a year from the FOX show.  Out on DVD today: Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Finally an email has been going around against the AIG bailout from TJ Birkenmeier.....saying instead of giving the money to AIG it should be handed out to every US citizen over 18.  The email goes on to say it would give everyone $300 thousand dollars after taxes.  A listener emailed us after hearing the issue and corrected the math.  If you times 300 thousand by the estimated 2 million people in the US it doesn't add up to the billions in bailout money...it actually goes into the trillions of dollars.  Good Idea, Bad Math
